Haematology refers to the study and treatment of blood disorders and includes medical problems such as anaemia (including pregnancy anaemia), thrombocytopenia (low levels of platelets), clotting and bleeding disordeers and Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome including Lupus Anticoagulant (Hughes Syndrome) and also hereditary thrombophilias such as Factor V Leiden, Protein S deficiency, Protein C deficiency, Activated Protein C Resistance and others. It also includes the investigation, management and treatment of malignant blood disorders such as leukaemia and lymphoma.  Our haematology services are led by Dr Paul Bentley, Consultant Haematologist, who is based at the Spire Cardiff Hospital.
