Counselling can offer you a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk through your worries and problems with someone who is trained to listen empathically.

Counselling is not about giving advice, but will help you explore your options and possible ways forward.

Our counselling and support service has been designed to assist you and your partner through the stresses of change and loss when you need it most.

We can offer a flexible response to meet your needs when you are experiencing a variety of problems including;

  • Difficulties related to conception and fertility
    Many people experience fertility problems which can be a source of great stress. Often people feel that time is running out for them to conceive a healthy child and it is not unusual to feel depressed and anxious.

  • Diagnosis of genetic conditions, e.g. Down Syndrome
    Receiving unexpected test results and diagnoses can be very challenging and sometimes couples may be faced with difficult decisions.

  • Miscarriage
    This may be a one-off experience or a repeated occurrence, often people can feel as if they have failed and again, depression and anxiety are common.

  • General issues – living life more fully.
    You may want to come and deal with specific issues, maybe a relationship problem, stress management, or a lack of confidence or low self-esteem.

How can counselling help?
It may be that just one or two sessions are all you need to help you get back on track. Or, you may feel you need more time to come to terms with your situation. The choice is yours and your counsellor will not make you do or say anything you do not wish to, or are ready to do.

Our counsellor Vivienne Mumby has over 16 years experience working with both individuals and couples on a wide variety of issues and has worked in health, social care and education, alongside psychologists, social workers and teachers.
